The Thompson Foundation Inc.
Founded by Andrea Thompson in 2024, The Thompson Foundation is dedicated to building and elevating the heart of communities by focusing on three core values: health and fitness, financial literacy, and the success of the family unit.
For anyone who knows Andrea, you know family is important to her. From the traditional soul food Sunday dinners her grandmother hosts after church for their family, to the lively stories she shares about her family dinner table discussions, they enjoy spending time together talking, laughing and singing around the dinner table. Andrea’s vision through TTF is to restore value in the family unit by providing support and resources to keep families together and thriving.
Andrea has always been a health and fitness enthusiast and believes that when you feel good mentally and physically, then you are often happier and fulfilled. Happy and fulfilled people often show up as encouraging, positive, purpose-driven individuals in their family and community.
Being connected to the financial industry, Andrea realizes how important it is for people to maintain their dignity through financial stability. Exposure to foundational financial principles and financial concepts is the key to financial security.
We believe the strength of the community lies in the hope and development of the community members. We strive to ignite hope for longevity, success, and fulfillment within the community by prioritizing physical and mental health, promoting financial stability, and advocating for unity in families. We hope to inspire and support community members to reach their full potential, therefore building a foundation for a brighter and prosperous future for all.
ANDREA NICOLE THOMPSON
THE FOUNDER
Andrea Nicole Thompson aka Nikki is the founder of The Thompson Foundation and Nise’s Race. She is a partner and chief compliance officer at West Paces Advisors, an independent wealth management firm committed to helping families by growing and protecting generational wealth. Nikki grew up with a love for sports playing basketball and running track, then naturally transitioned into weight training and running 5ks and half marathons to maintain an active lifestyle. She also enjoys watching and rooting for her favorite collegiate and professional hometown sports teams.
Nikki has always felt the need to do something bigger than herself. She believes in supporting causes and organizations that she cares about and has generously donated to Agape Community Center, Assembly of the Saints, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Campbell High School Men’s Lacrosse, Grady Health Foundation, Step it Up! Fundraiser, Beloved Benefit and Bike MS – Atlanta Peach Ride. Nikki firmly believes that at the crossroad of her purpose and passion sat The Thompson Foundation, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to building and elevating the heart of communities by focusing on three core values: health and fitness, financial literacy and thriving families.
When Nikki’s mom passed in 2018, she often thought about ways to honor her mother’s legacy. In an effort to promote women’s health and give back to the community, she would take a leap of faith to organize Nise’s Race, an annual 5k event that raises proceeds that benefit women’s physical and mental health.
A native of Marietta, GA, Nikki resides in the Atlanta area with her Dutch Shepherd, Duke Alexander Thompson. She grew up in Hiram, GA and graduated from Hiram High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Kennesaw State University, and earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Her favorite quote is:
“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” By Vince Lombardi.
NISE'S RACE - MY STORY
Nise’s Race was organized in memory of my mom, Catherine Denise Thompson who everyone lovingly called “Nise.” My mom, Nise passed away on October 13, 2018 after a 5-year battle with cervical cancer.
What’s important to know about cervical cancer is…It Is Preventable!
As long as women go to their annual check-ups, complete health screenings, and get the HPV vaccine, they can prevent and/or detect any issues early enough to treat them.
What’s important to know about my mom is she loved people, and she was a “hugger.” She enjoyed working with children and was a paraprofessional at Scoggins Middle School and Dallas Elementary School. Nise was married to Larry Thompson for 36 years honoring their vows, “until death do us part.” She passed away at the young age of 56 years old leaving behind 3 daughters and 2 grandsons.
What’s important to know about me is I am a health and fitness enthusiast and I love helping people. These two factors have fueled my passion to take action.
My mission in life is to help as many women as possible prioritize their health.
I believe that when we have physically and mentally healthy women, we have happy and fulfilled women. When we have happy and fulfilled women showing up in their family, we have nurtured and successful families. When we have nurtured and successful families showing up in their communities, we have thriving and prosperous communities.
All life begins with a woman. If we enlighten her and empower her, she will inspire future generations.
CATHERINE DENISE THOMPSON
NISE’S LEGACY
Catherine Denise Thompson aka Nise of Marietta, GA was the first born of Robert and Joann Owens and the sister to Robert Jr., Robin and Daquen. She graduated from Marietta High School and gave her life to Christ at an early age while attending Back to the Bible Church. On May 26, 1982, she married Army Veteran, Larry James Thompson and moved to Hiram, GA after only knowing each other for 2 weeks. They say, “when you know, you know.” They would honor their vows to each other by staying married until her death which was a beautiful 36 years. Nise was the mother to Shonda, Nikki and India and the grandmother to Kayden.
Nise became a member of Assembly of the Saints Deliverance Church where she was faithful and found joy in serving as an usher for over 20 years. She loved her church community and enjoyed spending time with her friends at ASDC. Nise was a paraprofessional at Scoggin’s Middle School and Dallas Elementary School. She enjoyed working with children and impacted them greatly by letting them know that they were seen, heard and not simply tolerated, but she showed them love. Nise was a hugger and strongly believed that there was power in hugs. Whether it was family, friends or strangers, she believed in embracing others to show them that they mattered and they were valuable just for being themselves. Nise had a personality larger than life! You could count on her to never meet a stranger as she enjoyed talking to and hugging everyone. She was the most hype during the praise songs at church on Sunday mornings, and her absolute favorite thing to do was host fun, Christmas Eve parties each year for her family and friends. She loved, and she drew love from everyone that surrounded her.
Nise was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2013 and passed away at the age of 56 years old on October 13, 2018 after a 5-year battle. We would later find out that Nise suffered in silence. She had alarming health issues a year before she was diagnosed but didn’t go to the doctor for check-ups or screenings. No one has to suffer in silence, and we want to create space for women to prioritize their health so we can help prevent these types of endings to their story.
